Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of firm size, financial distress, and capital intensity on financial performance of mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2020–2024. Financial performance in this study is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). This research is a causal study using secondary data in the form of annual financial statements. The population of this study consists of all mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2020–2024. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, resulting in 14 companies that meet the predetermined criteria with a total of 70 observation data. The data analysis method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 20. The partial test results indicate that firm size and capital intensity have an effect on financial performance, while financial distress does not affect financial performance. Simultaneously, firm size, financial distress, and capital intensity collectively influence the financial performance of mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2024 period.
